Although black henna is from a plant that is harmless, it is common for some tattoo artists to  use a harmful chemical para-phenylenediamine to help increase the intensity of color.  This chemical used for these henna tattoo designs can cause many problems including permanent scarring and is barred by the FDA.

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have developed a new high-tech tattoo which uses nanotubes to display different programmable tattoo images and designs on the skin. Very interesting new technique which can even be used by spy agents like Bond !
