How To Remove a Tattoo

August 28th, 2008

If for whatever reason you want to remove your tattoo there are several methods you can use .

The traditional method of how to remove a tattoo was dermabrasion which involved the  peeling off of the top skin layer to remove the tattoo. Another is the surgical removal through an incision by a surgeon. Both of these two  procedures are painful and can cause extensive scarring.
Tattoo removal cream is usually used by most people doing at home tattoo removal. But most users of these creams say that they don’t have the ability to totally eliminate the tattoo.

The safest and common method of tattoo removal  today is by the use of lasers. The laser is used to break off the ink causing blisters and scabs leaving a wound which will heal. The present laser tatoo removal procedure produces less scarring.

One of the disadvantages of  the use of laser is the cost of tattoo removal can be from $250 up to $900 per session. Usually you might require between one to four sessions to completely remove a tattoo. The number of treatments will depend upon several factors including size of the tattoo,  the location, the individual’s healing process, how the tattoo was applied and the amount and type of ink used, and the length of time it has been on the skin.

Discuss with your doctor all these procedures and their effects before you decide to have them done.
Remember to care for the wound where the tattoo was removed to avoid further scarring as the wound heals.
